The month of August was one hell of a whirlwind! Jake had two interviews in Maine on the 15th/16th. Accepted the position as Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Maine Maritime Academy a couple days later, and we packed up and left Chicago on the 20th. Had truck issues in Niagara Falls, but arrived in Maine on Monday the 22nd. Crazy.
J had orientation on the 25th/26th and then classes started on the 29th. The house we found to rent wasn't available until September 3rd, so J stayed on campus while the girls & I bounced from their grandparents houses. We were able to spend a day at the beach while the weather was still warm enough to swim. Amazing. I was shocked how exhausting I found having the girls alone all week. J offers me more support than I give him credit for!
But now we're here and we're loving it. Our house is amazing (but that's probably because we can only stay 10 months!). J & Big A took Maully out this morning and there were two deer on the front lawn. We are less than a mile from the beach and from J's office. We're less than two hours away from our parents/siblings/cousins, etc.
This move has been shocking and quick and unexpected and yet, I think, exactly what we needed right now.
